Phil Bastiaans: Biography & Early Years

Phil Bastiaans, born in 1973 in Maastricht, is a Dutch racing driver and motorsport ambassador. His career is defined by a combination of competitive driving, technical expertise, and a long-standing involvement in the international Porsche motorsport environment.

From an early age, Phil developed a strong passion for racing. What started in karting evolved into a professional career in international motorsport, where he built his reputation as a driver with a focus on precision, consistency, and control. Over time, he has also become known as an ambassador for motorsport, sharing his experience and knowledge within the industry.

Today, his professional focus is primarily centered around Porsche AG and high-level driving experiences, where he continues to contribute to the brand’s global motorsport and driver development activities.

Motorsport Career

Phil Bastiaans began his motorsport career in karting, where he developed the fundamental skills that would define his driving style: precision, consistency, race awareness, and control under pressure. From an early stage, his natural speed and adaptability became evident, leading him into professional touring car racing.

His first major breakthrough came in the Renault Clio Cup Netherlands, where he became Dutch Clio Cup Champion. Building on this success, he continued in Renault one-make racing and became Renault Mégane Cup Champion, further establishing his reputation as a strong and consistent competitor in highly competitive touring car series.

During this period, Phil also competed in the Renault Clio V6 Trophy, including appearances in the prestigious support program of the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, one of the most iconic race weekends in global motorsport. Racing on the streets of Monaco marked a significant highlight in his early international career.

He then progressed to international competition, where he achieved one of the key milestones of his career by becoming European Clio Cup Champion, confirming his ability to perform at the highest level within the Clio Cup structure.

After this, he expanded his success into another one-make series by winning the Alfa 147 GTA Challenge, once again demonstrating his adaptability across different vehicles and racing formats.

He later transitioned into GT racing, where he reached another major career highlight by becoming Dutch GT4 Champion. This achievement marked his successful move into more powerful GT machinery and more technically demanding race environments.

In addition to his sprint racing success, Phil has extensive endurance racing experience. He has competed in multiple 24-hour races, including events at Circuit Zolder and the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, where consistency, strategy, and teamwork are essential.

Since 2002, Phil has been closely affiliated with Porsche AG. As a supervisor and instructor for worldwide Porsche driving events, he is responsible for delivering high-performance driving programs and coaching clients and guests at an international level. This long-standing collaboration allows him to combine his racing expertise with professional driver development on a global scale.

Hospitality & Lifestyle

In 2024, Phil expanded his activities into hospitality with the acquisition of Memory Makers Bush Lodge in Hoedspruit, South Africa. Situated in a renowned wildlife region, the lodge offers a luxury bush experience focused on nature, exclusivity, and high-end hospitality.
